Short Course Description

Responsible gambling services must be provided wherever gambling activities are undertaken. In the hospitality industry, the gambling environment is usually referred to as the gaming area and is provided in a range of venues, such as hotels, motels, clubs, pubs and casinos. The major forms of gambling are wagering (racing and sport) and gaming (gaming machines, table games, Keno and lotteries). Both forms of gambling are relevant to the hospitality industry. 

Entry requirements or Pre-requisites

There are no prerequisites or entry requirements for this unit. However please note that while undertaking this qualification prior to turning 18 years age is permissible, you cannot work in a gaming environment until you have turned 18. The RCG Competency Card is currently valid for a period of 5 years. 

Licensing Requirements

This unit includes the mandatory knowledge and performance evidence required by law in NSW for the issue of an RCG Competency Card by Liquor & Gaming NSW. Australian Training Plus is an approved provider of RCG training in NSW.

Documents issued on successful completion

On successful completion of this course, you will be issued with a Statement of Attainment for the nationally recognised unit of competency completed as part of the course. 

In addition, you will be sent a link from Liquor and Gaming NSW to complete a Quiz to finalise your Interim Certificate for your RCG qualification. Once you have successfully completed this Quiz, you will be emailed an Interim Certificate directly from Liquor and Gaming NSW. This certificate is valid for a period of 90-days, within which time you must attend a Service NSW centre with your interim certificate and 100 Point of Identification (listed on page 2 of the interim certificate) to have your final Photo Competency Card processed. This card will be issued by Service NSW and posted directly to you at the address provided on your student enrolment form.

Learning outcomes
The delivery of this course will cover the following elements:

1. Implement responsible gambling practices
2. Provide information and assistance to customers about problem gambling

Course duration
6 hours minimum (Mandatory face-to-face training required by Liquor & Gaming NSW)

Assessments Conducted
Formal assessment will be conducted in order to assess individual’s competency regarding the required skills and knowledge within the unit of competency.

The following assessments will be conducted as part of this short course:

• Written knowledge assessment
• Role play observation assessment
